Frequently Asked Questions
Who can apply?
Any Canadian high school (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident). The scholarships are not open to current university students or students who have previously completed a degree.
How will I know if you received my application?
You will receive a confirmation email automatically upon completing your online application. You will receive an email approximately one week after the application deadline to confirm the receipt of your supporting documents.
What are my chances? What is the committee looking for?
The only “guarantee” is that if you don’t apply, you can’t win. The Committee does not expect detailed and intimate knowledge of Cambridge. They look for students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, a well thought out plan of study, and a strong desire to succeed at Cambridge.
Is Cambridge University the right place for me to study?
Cambridge will be a challenging and very rewarding experience for the student who has the ability and determination to succeed. It is also a caring institution with very low drop-out rates, reflecting its success as an open and inclusive university.
You can learn more about Cambridge and whether it would be the right place for you by visiting the Cambridge website and College websites.
What does the application process involve?
Read the directions in the application procedure section. If things are still unclear, feel free to contact us.
Will I be contacted if I am not accepted for an interview?
Yes, all applicants will be contacted whether they receive an interview or not.
I have been awarded a scholarship. How do I collect the money?
Tuition-related costs will be paid directly to your College and the University. Air travel will be provided through the Toronto offices of Blyth Academy. Accommodation fees will be paid directly to the College, while maintenance funds will be provided quarterly directly to you in Cambridge.
Can I defer my scholarship?
No, the scholarship cannot be deferred. If for some reason you cannot take up your place at the University, we will not be able to hold the scholarship for you. The scholarship will be offered to another applicant.
Can I apply for any course?
Acceptance into any undergraduate degree course other than Medicine or Veterinary Medicine will be eligible for funding through this award program.
Is the fee sufficient to cover all my expenses?
Yes, all reasonable expenses will be covered.
Will I need a Student Visa to study in UK?
Yes, you will need a student visa. We will help you with the process and pay the fees. You must be in Canada when you make your application. The British High Commission in Ottawa is the only British visa office in Canada. The UK operates a points-based immigration system, which affects students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland, and ties a student’s visa to the university which he/she will be attending. If you are made an offer by the University and accept it, you’ll be issued with a ‘confirmation of acceptance for studies’ (CAS) number, which you will need to apply for a visa. The quickest and easiest way to apply for your visa is to apply online at www.ukvisas.gov.uk no more than three months before you plan to travel.
I still have more questions is there anyone who can provide me with more information?
Yes, you may contact the program administrator via the contact form or via the toll free telephone number; both are found here.
Is there a fee to submit my Scholarship Application to Blyth Academy?
No, there is no fee.
